September 21, 2011: The seventh volume of Memorias del silencio: Footprints of the Borderland will be released on October 21, 2011 at the Galería de la Misión de Senecú located at 8455 Alameda Av., El Paso, Texas. The event will start at 6:00 p.m. and will feature readings by the authors, Ballet Folklórico Nuevo Amanecer by Eastwood High School and an exhibit by Peace of Art: Design for Change.

Memorias del silencio: Footprints of the Borderland volume 7 is a collection of non-fiction, prose and poetry by migrant workers that emerged from a series of creative writing workshops in various comunities in the El Paso area. This project, a collaboration between El Paso Community College’s Community Education Program and the literary organization BorderSenses, has the mission of providing new academic opportunities to migrant farm workers and to bring awareness to their condition in the United States. 
  

 

Peace of Art: Design for Change is an exhibit that presents posters of social protest designed by professional and student designers with roots in the U.S.-México borderland.
